A lot can happen in the middle of nowhere.
Yes, there is a Paul BunyanBRAINERD, MN
So, you watched the movie "Fargo" and were wondering if there was a place that actually had a large animated Paul Bunyan.
Well, there is.
Paul (and Babe, his pet blue ox) live on the western edge of Brainerd at an amusement park named appropriately "The Paul Bunyan Amusement Center".
Paul has been entertaining kids and adults for years being billed as "The World's Largest Talking Animated Man".
Paul lives in a large wood building that is home for a small forest and cabin.
His workday consists of sitting on a stump talking to kids, parents and grandparents, often surprising them by calling out their names in a friendly greeting.Paul takes a long vacation from the amusement center in winter.
He boards up his log building and leaves the amusement center for the quite life of a lumberjack in the Minnesota northwoods area he loves so much.
UPDATE: Paul and Babe were moved after Labor Day 2003 to a new location after the Paul Bunyan Amusement Center where they had stood for over 50 years was closed. They will again greet visitors next spring at This Old Farm, a museum and attraction, 13 miles east of Brainerd on Hwy 18.
